At Grade 1 you can develop a range of skills and techniques including double snare hit, semiquavers, push note and counting. In the exam you’ll play a set list of three songs and demonstrate your playback or improvising skills.

You can access everything you need to prepare for the performance part of the exam in the new graded songbooks. The Rock & Pop books are available for Initial to Grade 8 and each includes eight songs with performance hints and tips. There’s also useful background information so you can explore the story behind, and techniques used in, the songs.

Rock & Pop Drums exams help you improve key playing skills and techniques including tempos and strokes, paradiddles, flams, and ratamacues, while playing the music you love. Song lists include music from David Bowie, Foo Fighters, Queen, The White Stripes, and Michael Jackson.
